It is pretty tricky especially in the beginning.
The actual seabattles and attacking cities isn't even that bad neither. So even though it wasn't a big budget title when it came out, the trading system is actually remarkably deep (unless you purposely are looking to break it). So you have other people set up the factories so hemp gets shortages (in which you favor your own factories) and you spend the rest of your money on larger cities where the spanish fleet ports more often since they will need more rope. You can also put rope building factories there but you cant sell all your rope at a good price as it is. For instance, you get stuck with a lot of hemp for rope, you can then put up houses in a town where rope factories are permitted and add houses there which you rent out. You can also influence other towns if you need to. Get those goods into second stage (hemp to a ropefactory, tabacco to a cigar factory etc.) and then selling them for the highest price at other islands.īut it goes pretty deep, after a while you have a huge trade network with ships going everywhere and different main warehouses connecting smaller warehouses and what not. The actual fun for sandbox players in this game is setting up various production facilities across islands and connect them through your trading network. It is a little focussed on trade/economy and not so much on building though that also plays a part. It is pretty old but since sim city 4 was no problem, this should neither.

( Most don't go past a certain age, I don't want my game restricted in any way ) If they build on the planet and play long enough to understand chemistry and understand how to get into space, so be it. If they want to build from the bronze age all the way up to the iron age or even modern age, so be it. If they want to create their own currency in game, so be it. I am looking for a REAL sandbox where the players take my planet and do what they want.

Minecraft has no currency, granted, unless you mod it with a lot of laggy plugins. Honestly, it seems like you either don't really know the game, or refuse to play it. Rinse and repeat until you have fortresses and rail systems with fully functioning (and completely use crafted) circuitry and utilities. You use some of these planks to make a crafting table, then you use the rest to make basic wooden tools (mining pick, axe, hoe, shovel, etc.). You break down wooden blocks and change them into wooden planks. You said you didn't like Minecraft, yet this is exactly what you do. Wurm online, Hearth & Haven, Tale in the Desert would be next in line although they are more complicated than Stranded.Right, umm.little confused.
If it's still not clear I suggest trying out Stranded 2. You start with nothing, search for and collect raw materials, craft tools, construct buildings and lots of different goods. Those are standard RPG games (yes, I played Ryzom).Ĭrafting game is all about crafting and building. WoW is not a crafting game, Ryzom is not a crafting game, Baldur's Gate is not a crafting game. If you can craft armor or weapon it doesn't mean it's a crafting game yet.
